The Think Bright Philosophy
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn” -
Confucian Proverb
Think Bright Tutoring is founded on the strong affirmation that every child deserves access to a fair and balanced learning environment that is safe and promotes realistic and sustainable growth. As professional educators, we realise that every child has varying rates and styles to which they acquire key understandings. Therefore, whilst teachers do their best to achieve this in a classroom setting, sometimes students need that extra little push to think bright.

Think Bright is founded in the roots of theorists Vygotsky and Piaget who advocated for Social Constructivism. The key elements of this theoretical framework insist that children learn in an environment where they can construct their own understandings along with prior knowledge and current concrete experiences. It also attests that learning is situated and constructed through healthy interaction with others, through debate and scaffolded thinking. Thus, we have adopted an ‘I do, We do, You do’ model of learning where lessons ensure that explicit instruction and modelling is demonstrated, then assisted together, then the student is able to demonstrate their understanding.
Additionally to our theoretical framework, we believe students are visual learners and need concrete examples they can construct and learn from. Therefore, these are incorporated wherever possible into our sessions whether it’s through multimedia or physical objects that can be manipulated. Additionally, when tutoring is able to be conducted and requested face to face again, you can assure this will be met with a greater impact.
Think Bright ensures that lessons are both engaging and fun, through a number of interactive resources that may be new to students or that they may already be familiar with. Engaged students who see learning as a fun activity are more likely to be intrinsically motivated to learn. Leading the way in this process, is the tutor who has the additional needed purpose of helping establish a trusting and engaging relationship with the student that allows them to feel safe and inspired to learn.

Lastly, Think Bright supports Positive Behaviour Learning (PBL), a pedagogy that rewards students that demonstrate positive traits that contribute to a healthy emotional and social wellbeing. Once an accumulation of points earned from displaying such behavioural traits as resilience, organisation, teamwork and on-task behaviour is formed, then students will be rewarded with prizes they can enjoy. This is explained further in the ‘Why Choose Us?’ section.
